1 – Chalet Marco Polo, Val d’Isère
This ultimate swimming pool was designed by no less than Christian Lacroix and has been described by Britain’s ‘Daily Telegraph’ newspaper as ‘the most luxurious chalet swimming pool in France.’
Even consideration has gone into the ceiling of the pool, which is 150 years old from a souk in Morocco. There is even a complete wall that can be used as a screen to project movies on to. Simply the definition of luxury.
2 – Toit du Monde, Val d’Isère
Love 007 movies? This swimming pool comes straight out of a ‘James Bond’ film and spans both inside the chalet and outside under the stars.
A secret button reveals this otherwise-hidden red marble pool – the second on our list in the world-class resort of Val d’Isère.
High stone walls give complete privacy, there’s a wave machine and even the depth is adjustable, so if you have young children you can change accordingly to fit their abilities.
3 – Chalet Shemshack, Courchevel
Located right on the piste in chic Courchevel 1850, Chalet Shemshack has an entire floor dedicated to fitness and wellness.
The main feature is the large fully heated swimming pool, but you can also enjoy a spa, sauna and well-equipped gym during your off-slope hours.
4 – Chalet Le Grenier, Méribel
In the middle of the famous Les 3 Vallées ski area (and one valley over from Courchevel), Chalet Le Grenier is one of the best chalets in Méribel.
The stunning spa area is stylishly fitted out and lit with a pool and jacuzzi area, both equipped with water jets for easing your muscles after a long day on the slopes.
5 – Les Fermes de Marie, Megeve
This property is the only one on our list that includes shared facilities, but this luxury hamlet of historical farm buildings is well worth its place.
A haven of nine interlinked chalets was created by painstakingly dismantling the original structures, with every item of wood catalogued and numbered. They were then reconstructed, keeping the traditional Savoyarde styles, but upgraded to the highest specifications.
Each chalet sleeps up to 10 guests over three floors and spaced across 400 square metres. There is a private spa, jacuzzi, sauna, massage area and fitness room, plus all guests are able to use the hotel’s luxury pool.
Megève is just an hour from Geneva and is a gourmet’s dream with 89 restaurants, four of which have Michelin stars.
6 – Chalet Pearl, Courchevel 1850
